LAS VEGAS, United States (AFP) — Nicaraguan Ricardo Mayorga reportedly faces a ban and fine for testing positive for a banned diuretic after losing to Oscar de la Hoya.
According the Las Vegas Review-Journal report, the Nevada Athletic Commission could impose a suspension and take a portion of Mayorga’s share of the pay-per-view profits from Saturday’s title bout, which de la Hoya won here by stopping the champion in the sixth round.
Mayorga tested positive for Furosemide, better known as Lasix, the newspaper reported.
